This page deals with the mechanics associated directly with naval units.
For naval combat mechanics see naval warfare.

This article describes the different naval units and the statistics associated with them.

Types

Screens

  • Destroyers (DD): Cheap, fast, and unarmored, destroyers are excellent against submarines and have good anti-air armament for their size. In a pinch they can close for a torpedo attack.
  • Light cruisers (CL): Bigger and more expensive than destroyers, light cruisers trade some anti-submarine capability for greater effectiveness against surface targets.

Capital ships

  • Heavy cruisers (CA): The smallest and cheapest of capital ships, heavy cruisers out-gun and out-armor screens handily.
  • Battlecruisers (BC): Battlecruisers deliver nearly the firepower of battleships in a faster and less expensive package, but have comparatively thin armor.
  • Battleships (BB): The pinnacle of surface combat, battleships are expensive and slow but boast the most powerful guns and the thickest armor.
  • Super-heavy battleships (SH-BB): These fantastically huge (and expensive) behemoths exaggerate all of the characteristics of more reasonably-sized battleships.

Carriers

  • Carriers (CV): The ascendant ruler of the seas, carriers are nearly defenseless on their own but can strike from afar with their complement of aircraft.

Other

  • Convoys: Not shown on-map, convoys carry troops, supplies, and resources across water. They are defenseless against enemy warships and require an escort in times of war.
  • Submarines (SS): Small, slow, and stealthy, submarines excel at sneak attacks on unescorted convoys and capital ships.

Equipment

These are specific ship classes that are unlocked through research.

  • "Total cost" is computed as IC cost + 0.25 * resource cost, based on the import rate and the cost ratio between military and civilian factories.
